I've had TimeNet on my iMac for a few years. I just got a MacBook so I can work downstairs occasionally.
I tried to run TimeNet over my Airport connection, and when I clicked the TimeNet icon on the shared drive, it asked me for a registration key. Can I use my original registration key or do I need to buy a second license?
I don't seem to have a record of the original registration key.
(Also, I had TimeNet open on the host machine — was that my error?)

Cathie,
With only one single license, TimeNet can run on two separate computers, but not at the same time. If you need your old license back, please send a quick email to support AT applesource DOT biz.

Perry, Once again, I have to compliment you on your responsiveness! I'll try it again, this time after closing out TimeNet on my desktop machine. If you don't hear from me, it's all good. Thanks again!

Hi Perry,
Thanks for reminding me of my registration code. I was able to open TimeNet on the MacBook, but I couldn't successfully connect to the TimeNet Data folder on my iMac.
When I navigated to it, I got a password dialog box with "perry" in the username field.
What next? (I don't recall ever setting a password on my data folder).

This is very strange indeed, never heard of this! So you select File-Work on Network, find your TimeNet Data folder on the network, select it, and it asks for a password? It's even stranger that the prompt has my name in it.
What exactly does the window look like? What exactly does it say, etc? Any icons in the window? Maybe you could take a screenshot and email it to me. To take a screenshot, simply press and hold command+shift down and then while still holding those down press 3.

Now it's stranger.
I open TimeNet from the shared drive. I select Work on Network. I still have a TimeNet main window with 0 clients.
I hold down Option so I can select a new data folder. I navigate to the TimeNet data folder on the shared drive and select it. This time, no password request. Nothing changes in the TimeNet main window. Still zero clients.
Out of curiosity, I expand the TimeNet data folder on the shared drive. There only thing that shows up inside is the invoice templates folder. This is true even if I am just browsing in the Finder.
Am I missing a step somewhere? When I'm working on the laptop, TimeNet is not active on the iMac.

If there is only one folder of invoice templates, then that is not a complete data folder. A complete data folder will have a timesheets folder, as well as an invisible data file. It's very important to move the entire TimeNet Data folder and not just the files within it.
I would double-check to be sure you're navigating to the correct data folder. If your clients are showing up properly on the local machine, then this may be the issue. When selecting the data folder, be absolutely sure that you're going into the Users/You directory over the network, and not just the Library/Preferences folder in the root of the hard drive.
