Eliminate duplicate windows

Sometimes when I have lots of windows in different apps open, I will inadvertently open a window for a client that's already open. As a result, I window up with duplicate windows, but the timer has advanced in one but not the other. This makes me nervous, as I could easily close the wrong window and lose track of time, right?

Would it make sense to tweak TimeNet so that if I click Spacely Sprockets and the window is already open, it brings the window to the front rather than opening a duplicate?
