I'm working with a company to offer integrated credit card payment processing in TimeNet. I'm trying to decide if this is a feature worth the time to implement. Essentially, it would allow you to invoice for a project, and then actually accept payment from your clients via credit cards. You could process everything from within TimeNet, and the money would go straight to your bank account.

Is this a total waste of time, or would anyone be interested in this functionality?

Thanks!

mmm interesting...

I think its an idea with legs... certainly a point of differentiation...

What would the start up / setup and ongoing costs be to the TN user?

I think you'd need to get a consensus from others... I rarely accept credit cards but a few clients have asked if I do...

Any way that gets money faster to my bank account s without costing me an arm and a leg is good for me!

It won't cost a thing up front. It'd be handled from a company called PPI. They only charge I think less than 1% of each transaction, and everything is handled behind the scenes. I'll have to get some more details, I'm meeting with the guys tomorrow. I think this looks interesting though!

Another nifty side effect of this, is the fact that you could actually buy TimeNet from right inside the app, and not have to deal with PayPal at all. I think that'll drive sales up. Purchasing would be a snap.

Dude, what an AWESOME idea! If we can get it done, we should take the opportunity and run with it.

Run like hell and don't stop. Yeah, that kind of running.

You only hate PayPal so much because they screw you on EVERYTHING.. heh heh. But that's a great reason to hate them!

Just curious... why exactly do you hate PayPal?
I like earning over 4% on my money...

These are the reasons I hate PayPal.

1. Their customer service sucks.
2. Every time I lose my debit card (which is maybe 2-3 times a year), it takes 3 weeks or longer to get a new one. That is EXTREMELY inconvenient.
3. At least once a month, PayPal will take money out of my account to refund a buyer for the purchase they made. All someone has to do is call PayPal and say they never received the goods they purchased, and PayPal refunds them no questions asked. I have no protection, because I don't sell a physical product. They never listen to my side of the story. I've lost thousands of dollars due to phony refunds, and I can see for a fact that the people requesting refunds are still using and updating my software.
4. They charge huge percentages on every single product sold. I've given them tens of thousands in cuts on all of my sales. It just seems wrong for them to charge such a big percentage.

Good to know....
I have no experience with #1, 2, or 3.
As for #4, aren't their fees less than what you'd pay going through someone else with ISP fees and transaction fees? There must be some reason why you are still using them despite how much you hate themĀ  Wink

I'm not doubting your arguments, just trying to understand your position since I use PayPal on a regular basis.

Apparently 2.9% is higher than anyone else charges. PPI charges 0.85%. They laughed out loud when I told them what PayPal charges me.

I use them for the same reason everyone else does. They're easy to use, and they're the only one most people know about.

The feature sounds interesting even though I'm not sure how much I'd use it... but I can certainly see how it could be useful and it would set TimeNet out from the crowd even more!

If it's truly as secure, easy, pay as you need, and costs less than PayPal, sounds like a winner to me.

Update on this: it fell through. The company provided me the run around and I gave up on their integration options. Too bad, could've been nifty!

That is too bad.  If you can find another company that could do this, I would jump all over it.  That is an outstanding feature to have.  I know I could use it.
