I am running a PowerBook G4 with TimeNet 3.9.21 and system 10.4.11. Out of the blue TimeNet began behaving strangely. Sounds similar to the problems described by Misha & Christine.
Suddenly TimeNet came up with a number of successive alert boxes with “OK” buttons. Several boxes had client names and paths to files.
Then the initial TimeNet 3x splash “Welcome — Start Up Assistant” window appeared with “Click OK to get started with TimeNet”. Then it gives me my OverDue/Process window, and Tips. It then displayed the Main window with all my clients, yet they cannot display their projects when I click the triangle open. It does this on every restart.
The data is still in their respective folders within the TimeNet Data folder, but they cannot display from within TimeNet. Also, the Identity info was blank. When I re-enter the data and quit the program, the data disappears again. So do all my Charges. No matter what I enter, it’s gone the next time I restart TimeNet.
If I create a new Client, it does not appear in the Main window, however TimeNet creates a folder in the timesheets folder in the Finder that has that client name. If I try to repeat this with the same Client Name, TimeNet tells me I have a client with that name even though it cannot display it. I can create a Project under this invisible Client, because it appears in the pull down menu in the Project creation dialog. If I restart TimeNet, these new clients are visible behind the first Welcome page, then they also disappear from the Main window list, but their folders remain in the Finder with the previously created timesheets. Very Strange Indeed.
I cannot access any of my client data, and all that I enter in the preferences disappears — Identity, Charges, etc.
Unfortunately, I recently did a full drive backup and the backup malfunctions as well. So the clone must have occurred after the change to any code.
HELP!
