Howdy.  One of my partners asked me if the matter / slip form could show time in tenths of hours.  Attorneys coming from BigLaw are often used to seeing time represented this way and this would ease home sickness.

Thanks!

In Preferences under General there is an option for Time Entry - this can be set to tenths and then entering time will be done in decimal format. Also under Bill Layout there is an option for Time Display - setting this to tenths will show time in tenths of an hour on your bills.

Nice!  Next time I will try a bit harder to RTFM Smiley

In your infinite spare time Wink, it would be really helpful to have the tenths selection in the general preferences form control the time vs. tenths views throughout the timekeeper interface.  Presently, selecting the tenths option takes care of individual time entries for tasks at the task time entry form, but the matter window total shows up in hours:minutes and the tasks comprising the matter also show up in hours:minutes.

Time vs. tenths could throw former BigLaw partners for a loop, not that I have anyone in mind when I suggest this...

Thanks for the extremely prompt responses!  In a past life, I was software developer before joining the ranks of geek law (aka Intellectual Property & Patent Law), so I would be happy to beta test and provide feedback for anything you have planned or are spit balling.

Excellent, thank you so much for the offer. I will most definitely be taking you up on it. In regards to your comment about displaying time in tenths everywhere, I think that's a good idea. In addition, would it be helpful do you think to make the default time settings be tenth instead of : separated? This way the first time a user runs the software it's already configured for time in tenths. Does that seem to be the defacto standard for attorneys and others of a similar nature?

Thanks again for your feedback. We are working extremely hard to make 2.0 an insanely great update, so any and all ideas, send em my way!

Tenths is probably most common these days, and would perhaps be the best default. Quarter-hours used to be popular, less so now. There is no standard.
I haven't seen any billing by the minute, but anything is possible.
